Sydney Dance Company is one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance companies, presenting new works in Sydney, around Australia and internationally under the Artistic Direction of Rafael Bonachela. In 2011, the company will perform in Sydney, Canberra, Germany, Western Australia, Darwin, Brisbane, New York, Barcelona and the UK.

Rafael Bonachela was appointed Artistic Director in 2009, giving birth to a new era in Australian contemporary dance. Rafael’s first commissioned work as a guest choreographer with the Company was 360° in 2008. Since that time he has premiered his new works we unfold (2009), 6 Breaths (2010) and LANDforms (2011); presented Australian premieres of his previous works Irony of Fate (2010), Soledad (2010), and The Land of Yes and The Land of No (2011); and new commissions from some of the worlds most indemand choreographers including Kenneth Kvarnstrom’s Mercury (2009); Adam Linder’s Are We That We Are (2010); Emanuel Gat’s Satisfying Musical Moments (2010); and Jacopo Godani’s Raw Models (2011).
