Established in 1984 by a dedicated group of visionary Holocaust survivors, the Jewish Holocaust Centre (JHC) is an institution dedicated to the memory of the six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators between 1933 and 1945. Since 1984, the Jewish Holocaust Centre has become an Australian landmark, gaining many plaudits and coveted awards. In 2012 the Centre attracted 30,000 visitors, 70 per cent of these being school students who went though the Centre's education program which aims to combat racism, injustice and hatred, while fostering the values of freedom and critical thinking. In 2010 the Centre's museum, went through a complex up-grade resulting in the re-housing of photographs, artworks and text, highlighting their wealth of original material from the Holocaust period, and adding state-of-the-art technology.
